Dr. Edward Schmit, a lifelong resident of Jay County, brings more than two decades of chiropractic care to the Portland, IN community. His personal journey into becoming an Orthospinology chiropractor in Portland began at age 19 while in nursing school, when a work-related injury left him struggling with persistent neck pain and headaches. After painkillers offered little relief, he reluctantly tried chiropractic care at his family’s encouragement—only to discover remarkable improvement after just a few adjustments. 

Moved by the profound impact chiropractic had on his own well-being, Dr. Schmit shifted his career path, enrolled in chiropractic college, and has practiced in Jay County since 2001. His experience as both a patient and Portland chiropractor fuels his passion for helping others rediscover health, reduce discomfort, and pursue long-term wellness through gentle, precise chiropractic care.
