Nearly everybody has encountered dizziness at least once in their lifetime. Almost 35% of adults over 40 have some illness or condition with dizziness as one of its primary symptoms. Dizziness is the feeling of being unable to maintain your balance. Most people feel as if their surroundings are whirling around them. Also, they would feel lightheaded and may even possibly faint as a result.

Nowadays, dizziness is the top reason for fainting. Dizziness is frequently not an indication of a severe condition. However, you still need to pay attention if you have other accompanying symptoms that may be a sign of something that requires medical care.

What Causes Dizziness?

Before discussing how to help you with your problems concerning dizziness, we need to understand its causes. Often, dizziness is due to some severe conditions such as:

  • Anemia
  • Heart stroke
  • Neurological conditions
  • Low blood pressure
  • Head or neck injuries

Dizziness can also be due to less severe problems like:

  • Car sickness
  • Dehydration
  • Changes in hormone levels
  • Excessive exercise
  • The side effect of specific medications

In general, dizziness is due to circulation problems. When your brain is not getting sufficient blood from the heart, it will result in your systolic blood pressure to drop rapidly. As a result, you may feel lightheaded or about to pass out. Also, it would frequently happen when you suddenly stand up or sit down.

Anxiety disorders can also cause dizziness, along with getting exposed to too much heat or having a neurological condition such as Parkinson’s disease.

Dizziness – What Makes A Person At An Increased Risk?

  • Having a History of Dizziness

Experiencing one episode of dizziness may lead to another. It would be a good idea to take precautions if you previously experienced dizziness episodes in the past.

  • Being Older

As a person becomes older, they tend to have more health issues. Dizziness is often just one of those problems. It may also be a side effect due to medications taken.

What Are The Symptoms of Dizziness?

Just as dizziness is a symptom itself, it frequently appears with other accompanying symptoms, like:

  • Incorrect sense of motion
  • Abnormal headaches
  • Changes in vision
  • Irregular or slow pulse
  • Chest pain
  • Paleness
  • Sweating and clamminess
  • Blind spots
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Loss of consciousness

Natural Home Remedies for Dizziness

Medical doctors will almost always recommend using medications to care for dizziness. However, this option may not always be the best. Here are some natural and safe home remedies that can help deal with your dizziness.

  • Yogurt

Yogurt has a reputation for boosting the immune system. As a result, it can relieve your symptoms of dizziness. Some would suggest that regularly eating yogurt is suitable for your digestion and overall health. For added health benefits, you can add cloves and pumpkin seeds.

  • Mustard with Salt

It can be one of the best remedies for dizziness. Mustard can increase blood circulation and also keep the body in balance while you are on your feet. Mix these ingredients well in a glass filled with water: salt, pepper, vinegar, and mustard. Then, drink this mixture once or twice a day.

  • Ginger

It is excellent in increasing the circulation of your blood. When you feel dizzy, chew on a small piece of fresh ginger slowly or drink ginger tea 2 or 3 times a day.

  • Lemon

Lemon can provide high doses of vitamin C and help boost your immune system. Also, lemon can provide your body with needed fluids that can help you maintain energy.

You can mix one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice with a small pinch of ground black pepper in a water glass. Add a little salt to the mix and drink at least twice daily or until your dizziness shows improvement.

  • Indian Gooseberry (Amla)

It has a large variety of vitamins, in particular, vitamins A and C. These vitamins can boost the body’s immune system, improve circulation, and also alleviate dizziness.

Grind two whole amla fruits into a paste and mix with two teaspoons of coriander seeds. Then add this to a pitcher of water and let it sit overnight. In the morning, strain it, and drink at least once a day.

  • Apple Cider Vinegar

It can be a very effective remedy for dizziness. Mix a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with a little honey, then mix well in warm water. Drink at least once a day.

  • Honey

It contains a high content of natural sugar. Honey is an excellent remedy for dizziness since it can improve your energy while eliminating low blood sugar.

Add two tablespoons of honey with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of warm water. Drink this mixture whenever you feel dizzy.

Seek an Upper Cervical Chiropractor

Remedies are useful for dealing with dizziness temporarily. They can help relieve you from the discomfort and unbalanced nature of a bout of dizziness. If you seek a more lasting or permanent solution, upper cervical chiropractic care can provide this.

In many cases, dizziness is often the result of a misaligned bone in the upper cervical spine. When the atlas (C1) and axis (C2) vertebrae in the neck become misaligned, they will put the brainstem under pressure and stress.

Misalignment causes two things to happen. First, the out of position bones can disrupt proper blood flow from going to the brain. As mentioned earlier, it can lead to dizziness. Second, the problem is that these bones are very near to the brainstem. Since the brainstem is the communication superhighway between the body and brain, a misaligned bone can irritate the brainstem resulting in sending improper signals to the brain. Thus, these signals can inform the brain it is in motion when it is not. Dizziness can be just one of those results.

Upper cervical chiropractors employ a very gentle and precise procedure to correct the misalignment properly without force. Instead, our method can gently encourage the bones to move back into their proper places naturally. Once corrected, patients who suffer from dizziness can see significant improvement in their dizziness and related symptoms.
